Frosty Morning

(Posted 12/1/11)

Residents were greeted by a frigid, but beautiful scene this morning as frost decorated trees and yards throughout much of Four Mile.

Written by Camp Springs’ own Emily Schubert

I’m simply at a loss for words,

 For lack of better terms,

I’ve lost myself in this big world.

It seems I’ve nowhere to turn.

What’s known best about the world

 Is it’s never ending exploration

Of things we’ve yet to see or do

 Before we reach our destination.

But in life’s journey’s greatest wonders

 The realization soon occurs

That the real world can surely wait

Because home’s where the heart prefers.

What’s home to one is home to many

In a small town such as this.

Between rolling hills and running streams

It’s quite easy for one to miss.

But beauty lies in unimaginable places

And it surely does lie here.

These places I’m about to mention

Are ones I hold quite dear.

The church hill is the place to be

 On a perfect summer night.

You can see the sunset and moonrise

If you park your car just right.

The creek that runs through town for miles

 Provides the faintest sound

Of other things that take existence

In the wildlife that is around.

The rolling hills and open fields,

 With which nothing had laid,

Has brought upon fruits and flavors of wine

Where locals take pride in profits made.

A town’s great past is set in stone

 In houses centuries old.

With years in passing and tours being taken,

There are stories still to be told.

 The changing seasons’ powers

Can easily take away your breath

 Pumpkin patches, Christmas tree farms,

And produce grown and sold fresh.

Sometimes it takes a personal experience

For one to appreciate their surroundings.

I’ve laughed, cried, and hugged-I even fell in love

In a place we call Camp Springs.

Though life may take you many places,

I have come to know and see,

That this hometown I am from

Is where I want and need to be.
