Thanks for the great website! I found it while researching my family history.

My great-grandfather, George Sperber was born in 1875 to Joseph and Caroline Sperber. I believe their farm was near what is now 10 Mile and Vineyard Lane. I have been told their land was farm #122. Some of their neighbors at the time were Stenger, Trauth, Shaw, Grimes, and Martz. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to determine the actual location of their land? It was probably sold after Caroline died in 1940. After 1940, the only family member left in the area would have been George's sister Philomena "Minnie" (who was married to Andrew Walter) living near 8 Mile.

I'm hoping to make some connections to my family's past.

Sincerely,
J.B. Sperber

Greetings J.B.,

Is there an e-mail address we can reach you?

Joe Zink

JB:
Joe,
Not sure why my email didn't come through. You can reach me at jbsperber[at)gmail{dot)com

J.B. Sperber:
Further information... if anyone is reading... Caroline Sperber's 1910 census page has a notation in the margin. It looks like it says "Branch Road by Ten Mile". Does anyone know where that might be?

Greetings-- I was thrilled to find your web site on Camp Springs, Members of my extended family have for years been seeking to find out more genealogical information regarding our distant relative Joshua Johnson (b. 1805-6 in VA, TN or KY?; d. 1871 in Clermont County, Ohio) who attended the old Twelve-Mile Baptist Church there near California, Campbell County, KY. Joshua attended the 2nd Twelve-Mile Baptist Church from 1834 through 1860. He was at the church at the same time as Rev. Jesse Beagle (1812-1876)

In June 1860, Joshua moved, along with a number of people from his extended family, to Clermont County, Ohio. He died there on July 28, 1871.

I know just about everything about Joshua from the time her arrived in Campbell County, but we have been unable to find out anything regarding the following about Joshua:

(1) The exact date and place where he was born.

(2) The names of his parents, and where they were born and died.

Our family storied have Joshua being the son of a Johnson (given name unknown) who jumped off HIS father's wooden slave ship while it was probably docked either in Virginia or North Carolina in the late 1700s. This ship supposed had Irish registry and Joshua's grandfather was part owner--and possibly Captain. The family stories have Joshua's father jumping ship because he did not like what his father was doing (regarding trading slaves from Africa). Family tails also have Joshua's father ending up in a place called Peach Orchard, Tennessee. We have been unable to verify any of the above stories up to this point.

It would be A GREAT HELP if anyone there in the Baptist Community in historic California/ Camp Springs, KY can provide me with the information I am seeking regarding the pedigree of Joshua John. He is my gg-grandfather of my father's maternal side.

I have sent a letter to the 2nd Twelve-Mile Baptist Church there in Campbell County but have received no reply.

Thank you for any help.

Sincerely

Dr. Gerald G. Schaber

p.s. If you so desire, I can provide you with much additional information regarding Joshua's three or four marriages, his many children, etc.

My father's family was from nearby Fort Thomas, KY .

Mom was Emma Kremer, daughter of William Kremer and Philomena (Minnie) Gunkel, who died when mom was only 8. Her brothers were Bill, Albert & Leo, sisters Clara and Tillie. They lived on Upper Tug Fork Rd in a stone house. Her uncle was Leonard Schultz. The site is so interesting. Thank you!
