CAMP SPRINGS INITIATIVE June 1, 2006 MINUTES The June 1, 2006 meeting of CSI was held at Carolyn Allender’s home. The meeting had been postponed from the normal date due to an Allender family emergency. Present were Victor Brooks, Steve Reichert, Lonnie Enzweiler, Carolyn Allender, Bill Allender, and Debbie Buckley. Carolyn opened the meeting. The Minutes were approved upon Steve’s Motion and Lonnie’s second. Reports: Wine Festival. Debbie reported that our first annual wine festival was a success. Much work was accomplished with lots of assistance from CSI. A special thanks is given to the teens (Jared Allender, Taylor Katt, and Olivia Katt) who helped rake up the wet straw from the tent area on Monday after the event. Lonnie reported on the monies taken and bills paid from the Wine Festival. Treasurer’s Report: Lonnie gave the run-down of the previous month’s expenditures and the monies received. He will get a final total for us for next month’s meeting since there are still some outstanding bills. There was a discussion of the need for a credit card in the CSI name for coming events. We will discuss this with the Northern Kentucky Vintners at next week’s rehash meeting. We made approximately $200 on the silent auction for CSI. There will be additional profits to CSI received from the Festival. Signs: It was reported that Mike had erected the second sign near the Lower Tug entrance to Four Mile Road. We need to discuss more signage for other entrances to our community as well as matching business and historic home signs. Stonehouse Trail: Debbie gave an update. She will be meeting with a local group of leaders to discuss connecting the Stonehouse Trail to other possible bike trails in Northern Kentucky, ultimately reaching the Purple People Bridge in Newport. We are still awaiting Fiscal Court’s letter of intent for the easements from homeowners. Historic Homes: No report. Comprehensive Plan: No report. Covered Bridges: No report. Four Mile Creek Clean-Up: Plans for this September are in the works. New Business: Debbie reported that she had met with two NKU professors from the Entrepreneurship Department. They are interested in providing two internship groups to do feasibility studies for the bicycle trail and the equestrian trail in Camp Springs. These would be done in the Fall of this year. CSI needs to gather information to provide them for their study. Brochures: Debbie reported that she is working on an idea to provide “Spend a Day in Camp Springs” brochures, featuring local horse businesses, historic homes, the wineries, farms, artists, the Four Mile Bed and Breakfast, greenhouses, and any other interested parties who would like to participate. She will be asking for volunteers to provide information. She has spoken to Keith Neltner about helping to create a beautiful color brochure. The next meeting of CSI will be June 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Respectfully submitted, Debbie Buckley
